Getting Started
Getting Started, Forms, Fees, and Answers to Other Questions You May Have.
- Choosing a therapist is the first step, and finding someone you feel comfortable with is very important. I invite you into a no-fee brief phone consultation that will provide us with an opportunity to get acquainted and understand how I might be helpful to you and your family. If you decide to move forward with scheduling an appointment, we can do this during our phone conversation. However, if you feel you are ready to move forward with scheduling at this time, I am happy to schedule appointments via email at kdelaney@peopleintransition.com. If you decide that I am not the therapist for you, I am happy to provide you with a list of referrals to other qualified professionals in the field.
- My fee is $110.00 for a 50 minute time period. The hourly rate is the same for individuals, couples, and families. I have office hours both in Bellevue and on Bainbridge Island. I do not bill insurance directly, but I am happy to provide a receipt with the necessary information for reimbursement from your insurance provider when appropriate. I find that most providers do cover a percentage of the visits. I am currently a provider for TriCare. I recommend that you contact your insurance provider to learn more about your coverage. I do request that payment is made at the time of service.
- Once an appointment is set, there are forms necessary for beginning our work together. These forms are helpful for us to exchange necessary information, and in educating you in my ethical and legal obligations as a psychotherapist. Please print and thoroughly complete the forms that are listed below to bring with you at the time of your appointment:
Adult Intake form: (PDF Document Download)
Child/Teen Intake form: (PDF Document Download)
This is information about you that is necessary for me to know in order to work with you. Please complete one form for each member of the family that will be engaged in therapy. Teens may complete the form themselves if applicable.
Disclosure form: (PDF Document Download)
This document shares information about my practice and methods of therapy with you. It provides you with my ethical and legal obligations as a therapist in the state of Washington. It is important that you read it completely and write down any questions you may have about this document. Signatures are required on the second page, and we can review this process at the time of the initial visit.
Privacy Practices form: (PDF Document Download)
These forms tell you about your rights and privileges regarding confidentiality surrounding the storage and use of the information that becomes your file. While this is a tedious document, it is provided for the security and safety of the information that is shared with me during our work together. The state of Washington has laws and regulations surrounding the storage and use of the information that you share with me in our sessions.
I invite questions and conversation on all of these documents. I appreciate you taking the time to read and complete these forms. I do have these documents available at my office. Directions to my office are provided via on our contact page here
- When you arrive at the office please use the button with my name on it that is located in the waiting area to let me know that you have arrived. If I have not greeted you within 10 minutes of your scheduled appointment time, please call my phone at 425-890-2352. If you are running late, please call and leave a message on my voicemail. Please note that I have a 24-hour cancellation policy in order for you not to be charged the full fee for a missed scheduled appointment. I truly appreciate advance notice if you cannot make the time that has been set aside for you.
- I find it helpful to meet with at least one parent during the initial session with a child or teen. I work from a family therapy orientation, and often find it very helpful to meet with various members of the family throughout the therapy process. I believe that change and healing take place in relationship with one another.
- The therapy process is different for everyone. I will collaborate with you to determine the best schedule for you, and I invite any questions you may have about your process. It is often difficult to predict the number of visits that are required to make the changes you desire. Therapy is a process that is continually evolving. Once people discover the choices they have in their lives and the changes that can result from these choices, they often revisit the therapy process to further their growth or check in on other areas of concern as they come about. I liken it to peeling the layers of an onion.
